Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education is designed to give pupils the knowledge, skills, and values they need to lead safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives. The curriculum is carefully sequenced from the Early Years, where children learn about feelings, friendships, and safety, through to Year 6, where they are supported to manage change and prepare for secondary school. Key themes, including emotional wellbeing, personal safety (online and offline), relationships, diversity, and health, are revisited and deepened each year to embed learning in long-term memory. Pupils also develop an understanding of money management, caring for the environment, and first aid, as well as how stereotypes and discrimination can impact individuals and communities. Our PSHE programme promotes resilience and a growth mindset, encouraging pupils to set goals, reflect on their strengths, and develop positive mental health habits such as gratitude. Through age-appropriate lessons, children are taught about healthy lifestyles, puberty, and the risks associated with drugs and alcohol, helping them make informed choices. Opportunities to discuss relationships, inclusion, and citizenship build respect and empathy, supporting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.
