Working as part of a governing board, they help to set the school’s strategic direction, oversee its financial performance, and support and challenge the headteacher to ensure high standards of teaching and learning. Governors bring a range of skills and perspectives from the wider community, acting as critical friends who help the school grow and improve. Their work helps to create a safe, supportive, and ambitious environment in which every pupil can thrive.
